Power Point Assignment

Popular Destinations in Your Hometown

Your hometown is where you live and raised. It is home to a wide variety of things to see and do. In this project you are employed by your local authority and you want to create a PowerPoint photo album of some of the most popular tourist destinations. You will use the Internet to locate and download suitable photographs for this purpose and create captions.

1. Start PowerPoint and create a Blank presentation. Click the title placeholder and enter Your Hometown name. Enter in the subtitle placeholder Come and See Us!. Apply a background of your choice (Design tab, Background group, Background Styles button). Style 5 (gray) is just one suggestion.

2. Enlarge the font size in both text boxes to improve readability. Change font styles and colors if you wish.

3. Click the View tab and then the Slide Master button in the Presentation Views group. In the left pane, click on and delete all thumbnail slides except the Title Slide Layout.

4. Click the Insert Layout button. In the main slide pane, click on each of the three placeholders at the bottom (for date, footer, and slide number) and delete them.

5. Because Florida is the Sunshine State and famous for its orange groves, you decide to create an orange master slide. Click the edge of the title text placeholder, click the Format tab, and, in the Shape Styles group, choose the Colored Fill – Accent 6 shape (last orange shape in row 2).

6. Change the font in the title text placeholder to Algerian 36.

7. Next insert a placeholder for the picture. Click the Slide Master tab, and, in the Master Layout group, select Insert Placeholder Picture. Using the Size group on the Format ribbon, size this placeholder to 5” Shape Height and 9” Shape Width. Center the placeholder using the Align button in the Arrange group.

8. Close the Master View. Click New Slide and choose the Custom Layout slide.

9. Start your Web browser and log on to the Internet. Locate at least 5 pictures to use for your presentation. Be sure to note the URLs as you will credit them on your last slide.

10. Right click the picture and choose Copy, then paste it into your slide. Add a title for each picture in the orange box.

11. After incorporating at least 5 pictures into your presentation, create a Source slide as the last slide. Title it Sources and insert the URL(s) for the source(s) of your pictures.

12. Test the slide show and make any needed adjustments.

13. Save the presentation as “PowerPoint Show” with file name as PP_yourstudnumber and close PowerPoint.
